How do I travel to Toruń?
The best way to travel to Toruń is by train (for timetables in English please click here. However you can also fly (the closest airport is Bydgoszcz - BZG) or drive. Please see our travel page for more information.

If we are getting the train to Torun and heading for the old town, is Torun Miasto the correct stop to get off at?
The main train station in Toruń is Toruń Głowny. Although on the other side of the river...it's better connected to the Old Town by the number 22 or 27 buses.

If we were planning to get trains around Poland, would we be better to pay for individual tickets in Poland, or to buy an inter rail pass?
Looking at the over 26 rate...127Euros works out at the moment as about 530PLN. It all depends what trains you want to catch and the distance. If you avoid the Intercity trains then that would bring the cost down much more (as they are on average about 130PLN one way). Slower trains can be anything between 30PLN - 60PLN depending on the journey.  If you got the interrail pass it would certainly make your life easier as you wouldn't have to worry about queuing up (they do vary...and can be long) or worry about using your pigeon Polish (as most of the ticket clerks at stations don't speak English).

Whats the weather usually like in Toruń in the summer?
It should be quite sunny and hot (not scorching but pleasant). However, of course like anywhere it can still rain.

Should I exchange my money abroad or in Poland?
Indeed it usually does work out better to buy currency here in Toruń. There are many bureau de changes (kantor) around Toruń. However, most of them are not open on a Sunday. If you are you coming from the UK, I would recommend buying some zloty in Marks and Spencer...as they offer a good commission free rate. In addition, there are many cash machines (bankomat) in Toruń, but they will charge for foreign withdrawals.

Help! I can't speak Polish...will I be able to cope?
Polish is a very difficult language and you're not going to be able to learn it in a short time! Most Poles (especially the younger generation) do speak at least an intermediate level of English and will be happy to try and practice their English. Some may be a little shy at first and even ashamed...but they should be able to get the message across with no problems.

If you want to try and show off a little with the language please see our Polish page.
